Ladder Bookcase

A common problem with bookcases, especially built-in bookcases, is how to access the stored books. If you have a very tall bookcase or tall set of bookcases, the bookcases usually contain books that

are difficult to reach at the top, particularly for those shorter of stature.

This problem is exacerbated if you have bookcases that are taller than eight feet, which is the effective maximum height for most bookcases (because of construction methods). However, with correctly made custom bookcases, higher bookcase heights can be achieved, as much as ten feet or even more.

With bookcases that high, unless you are preternaturally tall, it's hard to reach the books at or near the top shelves. Therefore, using a ladder or some other means of reaching the books is necessary. While some people use portable ladders, it's easier to use an integral or rollling ladder.

While Asheville Bookcases does not itself create such ladders (we focus on providing the best custom built-in and freestanding bookcases), there are some providers of ladder bookcases, which you can find with a judicious search for bookcase ladders.
